Last week i finished up this little digital cover for Architects brand new single “Devil’s Island”.
I know this cover came into a fair amount of questioning and criticism (from a small minority all be it) when it was uploaded last week and i thought i’d explain the use of the triangle and the cover itself. They came to me with the direction that this song’s lyrics had a slight resemblance to the outbreak of rioting in the UK earlier this year, we decided to run with that idea for the artwork. I used the paint strokes on the triangle to portray a rough edge to the shape - the song is one of the heaviest they’ve done for a while and i wanted to portray that with the feel of this symbol. A triangle is well known for symbolizing stability which is why i felt the shape would be perfect for this song. There’s no silly illuminati meanings behind it or anything we just all felt it was a good fit for the artwork and the song.
The song went live on their Facebook today and it’s an absolute banger. Check it out if you haven’t done so already.
